Fall Cleanup Done Before Winter Weather: If you have a business where your customers come to you for their needs, you need to keep a professional appearance to attract them first, then make sure they are safe while on your premises. Many times, the easiest way to accomplish that goal is to hire a professional company to do it. Having employees do those types of jobs is sometimes dangerous if you don’t have the correct equipment, and it can be costly.

Depending on the grounds surrounding your business, there could be many different types of maintenance services you could hire. Are there trees, shrubbery, decorative landscaping, islands of turf, or other unique things on the property? Do you have any drainage situations on the premises? There are many things to consider just thinking about what is usually called ‘fall cleanup’ around a business.

Much of this cleanup will be for the safety of your customers. Some of it will be for appearance and the different areas of the outdoor site. The point is that attention needs to be paid to these areas for many different reasons. We will try to list some of them here so you can at least be aware of them.

Please check the outside areas that include

  • Curb repairs and potholes
  • Parking lot striping
  • Front entryway and matting
  • Sidewalk and Patio cleaning
Landscaping needed might be
  • Application of fertilizer and weed controls
  • Continued mowing to keep a good-looking appearance
  • Changing out of seasonal plants for color and curb appeal
  • Winterization of shrubs and plants and pruning to maximize new growth in the coming spring.

If you plan on hiring outside services, the costs will vary from service to service but set up a budget and live within it. It will be advisable to bids from more than a few contractors. Also, this will allow you to look at the personnel and see their equipment. Find out if they are licensed and fully insured, and bonded.
