As we finish 2022 and look forward to 2023, I am trying to reflect on gratitude as a new angle on self-development rather than making a list of resolutions.

I am going to attack 2023 with an analysis of 2022. See, this year, I will change and add Gratitude into my life instead of resolutions.

What is Gratitude

Expressing Gratitude can improve your life in so many ways. Not only will it make you feel happy and content, but it will also help you to stay focused on what’s most important- YOU. It will boost your self-esteem, give you a positive outlook, and make you feel more confident and competent. It is also true that being grateful for what we have rather than what we want can make us feel much more content and happy for what we have!

See if it was a year where I lost two close friends from previous employment. One was an older mentor, and the younger one I used to mentor.

  • I lost my brother, the only family member I had left from growing up with since my parents passed years earlier.
  • I was in a car accident where I was rear-ended while sitting still.
  • Unrelated, I lost 60% of my eyesight in one eye for over one month.
  • Unrelated, I had major back surgery and underwent physical therapy to learn to walk again.
  • I got Covid twice

Now on the much more positive side.

  • My wife and I became grandparents for the 8th time.
  • I started a podcast and completed 22 episodes.
  • Broke the one million dollar mark in chemicals sold
  • Started a YouTube Channel
  • The opportunity to learn new things and meet new people
  • The ability to take risks and grow from failure.

As we step into the New Year, it is vital to cultivate a positive attitude and fill our minds with Gratitude. Keeping a daily journal of all the things you are thankful for is an excellent way to start your journey toward a more positive outlook. In addition, adopting the practice of expressing Gratitude on paper can help foster a sense of appreciation and bring in a feeling of joy that will help you achieve great things in 2023.
