Pro and Cons of Electric Dryers Versus Paper Towels: Everyone knows that 80% of common infectious diseases are spread through our hands. Because of this, your hands should be washed and cleaned upon your exit from any bathroom. A surprising fact to many people is that despite washing your hands before leaving the restroom, your hands may not necessarily be clean due to the actions that come after. After washing, an individual will need to dry his/her hands with either a hot air dryer or some paper towels. Both are great methods for drying your hands; however, there are pros and cons for each method in terms of cleanliness.

When it comes to drying your hands, using paper towels is an extremely common method. It is efficient in terms of how fast you can dry your hands and their low cost. Many restrooms will use recycled paper towels and send the paper waste to a factory to be recycled for other purposes. According to studies, after 10 seconds of drying your hands with a paper towel, the water on your hands is reduced to 5% and after 15 seconds to 1%. Air dryers not only take longer to dry your hands, but the residual water on the hands is significantly higher. Another advantage of using paper towels is that when you leave the restroom, the last thing you will touch is the door handle, which has been used by several restroom users, and believes me- not all restroom users wash their hands. This is why after you dry your hands with a paper towel you should open the door with the towel you just used, thus creating a barrier between your hands and the bacteria on the doors. However clean, the paper towel method has disadvantages such as the inefficiency of constantly restocking the paper towels, dealing with the waste, and the fact that some users will overuse them.
Using an air dryer will bring many benefits that a paper towel won’t. One of the biggest benefits is low maintenance; air dryers don’t need to be restocked and only require a one-time cost to set up while paper towels are a recurring cost. And, you won’t need to worry about waste, which is great for the environment. However, in terms of cleanliness, paper towels are a much better method because when using air dryers, residual water will drop onto the floor and may cause someone to slip and it is unsanitary. Not to mention, air dryers blow germs and bacteria around the restroom. The most annoying thing about air dryers is the fact they don’t dry your hands completely. This results in users drying their hands on their pants or touching the door with wet hands, potentially spreading the germs onto themselves and other people.
Both paper towels and hot air dryers are excellent methods of drying your hands, but in terms of cleanliness and sanitation, using paper towels is a much cleaner method than hot air dryers. Use paper towels and, not only will your customers be cleaner, but your employees too. Thanks for reading (Pro and Cons of Electric Dryers) Keep visiting for more updates.
